Then in 1938, Lawrence had an idea for a restaurant that would feature a single entrée, prime rib. Lawry's The Prime Rib in Beverly Hills was born! It soon became a dining sensation and was the launch site for Lawry's Seasoned Salt. This unique blend of salt, spices and herbs that Lawrence combined to enhance the flavor of his prize entrée quickly became a hot commodity. Shakers disappeared off the tables. Originally created for use exclusively in the restaurant, it was introduced to the marketplace in response to popular demand.
Lawry's Seasoned Salt rapidly became the best-selling bottled spice blend in the world. In fact, today Americans spend more on seasoned salt than they do on table salt.
