Can you send me some coupons for your products?

We appreciate your interest in our many fine products; however, we do not have a promotional program where we distribute free coupons or coupon booklets for our well-established products. We suggest that you check your local newspapers and magazines as we frequently issue coupons for many of our products.

I understand that you recently discontinued manufacturing a product I’ve enjoyed using. Can you give me any further information about this?

Unilever’s goal is to provide our consumers with variety of products to meet their needs and preferences. As you know marketing is a complex function, and many business factors are taken into consideration before discontinuing a product. Consumer demand is a major factor. When the level of demand is insufficient to ensure that consumers receive a high quality product at an affordable price, a product may be discontinued. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused and suggest that you visit the Brand’s web site where you’ll find many similar products that you may find equally enjoyable.

What is Unilever’s policy on recycling?

As a leading manufacturer of packaged consumer products, Unilever recognizes the ever-increasing importance of ensuring the safety of our environment. When developing our packaging, many factors are taken into consideration, including ease of use as well as overall economic and environmental benefits. We design our packages to provide safe, convenient and attractive protection. Unilever has made a commitment to two methods of waste management: source reduction and recycled packaging. We limit the amount of packaging only to what is necessary for optimal product performance, freshness and safety.

What is Unilever’s policy on animal testing?

Unilever understands and shares your concern about this most important and complex matter. We are committed to the challenge of eliminating animal testing for our business.  Our position has historically been that we do not test any finished home or personal care product on animals, except where required by government regulation. However, as part of our ongoing commitment to eliminate animal testing, we recently reviewed these specific government regulations against the products we manufacture and market. In line with our commitment to eliminate animal testing, as of October 2000, we can definitively state that Unilever does not test home or personal care products on animals. Our first priority continues to be to our consumers, and where required for safety reasons, we will have to carry out limited tests on some ingredients and food products. However, we will not use animal testing when there is an accepted alternative test or existing safety information available. We will continue our work for alternative methods by participating in industry and scientific programs, and we will continue to support legislation that promotes the elimination of animal testing.
