Roles of Brands in Enhancing Health & Well-Being
Commitment to Make Nutritious Food Accessible & Affordable
Knorr believes that wholesome, nutritious food should be accessible and affordable to all, but unfortunately, that is not a reality for everyone today in America. That is why Knorr is passionate to ensure all Americans can create balanced meals they feel good about. Whether it is creating high-quality products, offering simple chef-developed recipes, or supporting organizations and initiatives that provide access to healthy foods, Knorr remains committed to its long history of making good food available to everyone.
Back in 2003, we began our pioneering Nutrition Enhancement Program to minimize nutrients of concern in our products, such as salt and sugar. We formalized this in 2010 as part of the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP). With this, Knorr has been on a journey for the past decade to reduce sodium across its portfolio. For further information please see our infographic.
Using the Knorr ‘Sides to Center’ approach, making balanced meals for you and your family is easy. Add vegetables and lean or plant-based protein to Knorr Sides and you can create delicious and nutritious meals while also helping to increase the intake of essential nutrients such as Potassium, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Fiber.
To further encourage these nutritious meals, the Knorr website offers a wide variety of delicious recipes using an assortment of our products that can easily be searched on the recipe page. This includes our ‘Better-For-You’ Recipes that promote positive food groups with at least ½ cup of veggies per serving with less than 600 mg of sodium per serving in addition to limiting saturated fat & sugar.
Knorr is proud to partner with organizations that share a commitment to help provide access to good, affordable food. To learn more, click here.
Lipton is one of the most trusted tea brands in the U.S. with a diverse portfolio that offers something for everyone, whether you are looking for a cup of green, black, or herbal tea! Tea dates back thousands of years and is the most widely consumed beverage in the world next to water. In addition to being as hydrating as water, unsweetened brewed green or black tea provides naturally occurring compounds called flavonoids, and delivers lower levels of caffeine relative to other caffeinated beverages (up to 50mg/cup).
Flavonoids have long been associated with health benefits, including heart health with green or black tea being one of the best contributors of flavonoids in the diet. Based on daily consumption of 2-3 cups of unsweetened brewed green or black tea (between 200-500mg of flavonoids) as part of a diet consistent with dietary guidelines, drinking unsweetened Lipton green or black tea every day can help support a healthy heart.
To better understand the benefits associated with drinking unsweetened green or black tea, Unilever has sponsored research to continue to advance the knowledge about tea and its impact on health.
