Hellmann's® expands 100% cage-free egg recipes
Brand Closer to Goal of Transitioning All Recipes to 100% Cage-Free Eggs
Englewood Cliffs, NJ (May 16, 2011) – As part of its ongoing commitment to real, simple ingredients, Hellmann’s® – America’s favorite mayonnaise brand – today announced that two of its signature recipes, Hellmann’s® Canola Cholesterol Free Mayonnaise and Hellmann’s® Reduced Fat Mayonnaise with Olive Oil, now feature 100 percent certified cage-free eggs in the United States.

With 0 grams saturated fat or trans fat per serving and half the fat of Hellmann’s® Real Mayonnaise, Hellmann's® Canola Cholesterol Free Mayonnaise is naturally rich in Omega 3 ALA and supports a Heart Healthy Diet when substituted for foods higher in saturated fat.* Made with the great taste of Bertolli® Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Hellmann's® Reduced Fat Mayonnaise with Olive Oil is a creamy and delicious alternative that is still lower in fat than regular mayonnaise.**
Hellmann's® Canola Cholesterol Free Mayonnaise and Hellmann's® Reduced Fat Mayonnaise with Olive Oil join Hellmann’s® Light in using 100 percent certified cage-free eggs. These three cage-free egg recipes equate to approximately 5.6million pounds of eggs and impact 177,000 egg-laying hens. Once the entire Hellmann’s® product line is changed to certified cage-free eggs, that number will increase to approximately 1.8 million egg-laying hens.
Cage-free eggs used in Hellmann’s® mayonnaise recipes are ‘American Humane Certified’ www.thehumanetouch.org a certification program administered by the American Humane Association (AHA), the leading certifier of cage-free eggs in the U.S.
In March 2010, Hellmann’s Light® became the first packaged food product of its stature and volume to offer a recipe containing 100 percent cage-free eggs. Unilever, the manufacturer of Hellmann’s, aims to move to 100% cage free eggs for all its products globally as outlined in its Unilever Sustainable Living Plan. The Plan serves as the company’s roadmap for decoupling future growth from environmental impact.
